Hello,

It would be really great if everyone here could just post one or a few pictures showing the current state of their house.

I'll start right away.

For renovations, it’s best to provide a comparison of before and after the remodeling.

Before March 2014:

After May 2015:

At the time, the final size of the terrace wasn’t clear, so it wasn’t really an issue. Besides, the terrace wraps all the way around the house — extending left and right towards the kitchen and the side entrance. It turned out quite large, which wasn’t the original plan, but I think this will result in the most efficient solution for the walking paths.

What kind of base layer is that? No edge restraint — is that okay?
How thick are the slabs?

Today, the concrete slab was poured—with quite a bit of delay.

The neighbor informed me that they recently crashed into the Poroton wall with the crane at high force. It doesn’t look good. Hopefully, there are no hidden deformations beyond the visible damage.

Hotzenplotz, what a mess. Hopefully, it’s only a visual issue!

Here is a picture of the door. We won’t keep it. On the outside, it’s actually okay, but we really don’t like the dark look on the inside.

I would also replace it. Right next to it are white windows, so I think a white door looks nicer.

It’s slowly starting to look like a house...

The base consists of frost protection gravel, compacted with a slope.
Then a drainage concrete layer at least 8cm (3 inches) thick, and the slab is glued with flexible adhesive.
The porcelain stoneware tiles are 2cm (0.8 inches) thick.

I intentionally left out the edge restraint. A protection mat or a geotextile fabric will be placed vertically in front of it, then I will smooth the soil so the lawn surface is slightly higher. This way, I can mow directly over it with the lawn mower.
