Hello,

It would be really great if everyone here could just post one or a few pictures showing the current state of their house.

I'll start right away.

For renovations, it’s best to provide a comparison of before and after the remodeling.

Before March 2014:

After May 2015:

KANN is certainly not bad. You can tell the quality.
For the driveway, we went with EHL. It's sufficient. So, paving costs about 25€ (approximately $27), and the terrace is simply more expensive.

Since the topic of paving just came up, a colleague advised me not to use concrete pavers, but rather clay pavers. He said concrete pavers tend to look like they’re 50 years old after only 2 years, whereas clay pavers are supposed to still look new even after 30 years.

Is it accurate to make such a general statement, or are there significant quality differences within concrete pavers?

Well, you do have eyes, don’t you? What does a paved area in your city usually look like after 10 years, especially one that was probably made with concrete?

Our project finally got underway today!

Here is just one picture taken from a distance this morning

Meadow path leading to houses in a suburb; construction equipment, stack of timber, and row of trees at the edge.

@denz. Clinker brick paving is a nightmare on ice. I never would have thought a surface could become so incredibly slippery.

Not to mention that clinker paving bricks are unfortunately not a bargain either and they have to match the rest.
