Hello,

It would be really great if everyone here could just post one or a few pictures showing the current state of their house.

I'll start right away.

For renovations, it’s best to provide a comparison of before and after the remodeling.

Before March 2014:

After May 2015:

Well, it just has to fit, right...
For me, red brick with a red roof only works if the windows are white and the shutters are green. Lovely... but the husband didn’t agree and refused to give up the semi-detached house.
So, dark gray it is. Like a cloudy or stormy autumn sky. Less poetic: it’s unobtrusive, blends into the background, so that other things stand out. In our case, the brick and then the garden.

And the shades of the bricks and the roof need to be matched very carefully; otherwise, they will clash. No, with red bricks, it's better to choose a brown or gray roof.

Yesterday we had the topping-out ceremony, today the roof tiles arrived and will hopefully be installed starting tomorrow. The windows and door are also expected to arrive tomorrow, and the plumber will come on Monday to install the pipes

So the tiles are quite nice, but where’s the HOUSE???

I have to admit that our development plan requires red [emoji41]. But we would have chosen red even if it wasn’t mandatory. I think the color looks very classic here and with a white house and a fully planted perennial front garden, it will definitely look really, really nice [emoji7][emoji7]. Although I had expected the red to be a bit darker, this shade is also fine.

There are no specific requirements for the roof in our area. Out of about 60 houses, only one happens to have a red roof.

It’s the other way around for us: the zoning plan requires red as well, but we would prefer anthracite. White facade and red roof – fine. White facade, RAL7016 windows, and red roof, however, doesn’t work for me – somehow it always reminds me of blonde-dyed hair with dark/black eyebrows... [emoji23] Since we will have an internal roof design, meaning the color won’t be visible from the side, it’s not such a big deal...

So the dark hair roots hidden under a cap... wonder if that helps [emoji23]

There are exactly two houses with red roofs in our area. Ours and one other. Everything else is anthracite. Honestly, I used to like anthracite as an alternative, but now, with all the uniformity, I don’t like it. If there were more variety, it would be more visually appealing. There are many white or light yellow facades where red fits well. For deep red brick, a light terracotta red also works nicely.
