Hello,

It would be really great if everyone here could just post one or a few pictures showing the current state of their house.

I'll start right away.

For renovations, it’s best to provide a comparison of before and after the remodeling.

Before March 2014:

After May 2015:

Ladies, you can’t be serious, right [emoji14]? There must be something underneath. This is a threshold-free patio door. There has to be some kind of construction below it.
I took the photos while work was still in progress. It probably isn’t finished like that. Or maybe it’s just the window rebate ventilation [emoji23].

But we’re relaxed about it. Our DEKRA inspector is coming soon for the final inspection; he is very thorough and will definitely spot any defects.

Well, here speaks a lady: in our case, the area underneath was first built up with masonry, and then the windows were attached to it. They have to be fixed at the bottom with brackets... but I’m not an expert, so I can’t say if something is wrong here.
Your surveyor will surely advise you on that.

A window is always installed on the raw subfloor or fixed to it, right?!

Two-story house in shell construction, surrounded by scaffolding, construction site in sunshine.

Kitchen in shell condition: packed island, tools, view of green fields

Balcony with large glass sliding doors, unfinished floor and construction equipment visible.

Bright interior under construction with large glass sliding doors, scaffolding outside.

New-build bathroom with tiled wall, water connections, spirit level and tools on the floor.

Large bright interior in shell construction with white walls, large windows and construction equipment.

Bathroom under construction with free-standing bathtub and building materials

Bright unfinished interior with columns, ladder and construction equipment in progress

Bathroom base with wall tiles in construction phase, corner shower and window visible

So, after a long time, here’s an update from me. A lot has happened in the meantime. The external plaster has been applied, but it’s not yet painted. Inside, the wellness area is almost finished, at least the tiling work. Next up is the installation of the parquet flooring (Haro) and, of course, the staircase. There’s light at the end of the tunnel—at least inside... Outside, there’s still a lot to do. The entire terrace area needs to be filled and then paved, the balcony flooring still has to be completed, and, naturally, the glass railing as well...

@blaupuma a really beautiful house! I also like it very much!

@Metalwerner your place looks very nice too, so spacious and bright! May I ask how wide your patio door is?

I am also interested in the width of the lift-and-slide door. You have invested quite a bit of money in six lift-and-slide doors. It looks good.

Sure, each one is 3 meters wide (10 feet), all six of them. They are lift-and-slide doors... And yes, they were expensive :-( But it was worth it to us. That's an unobstructed west-facing side with sunset views until the very end, and I didn’t want to block that.
