Hello,

It would be really great if everyone here could just post one or a few pictures showing the current state of their house.

I'll start right away.

For renovations, it’s best to provide a comparison of before and after the remodeling.

Before March 2014:

After May 2015:

You will definitely spend the money; since we moved in, I believe we have already spent around €50,000 (about $54,000)...

I assume so too. The question is whether reason will prevail and the rest will go towards early repayment of the loan, or if it will end up as a covered terrace and finishing the garden, since the outdoor area was already about 90% included in the financing.

I am slowly getting a clear idea of the final total, and it looks like about €20,000 (approximately $22,000) will remain—€10,000 from the financing and €10,000 saved over the past year. The final bill from the shell builder has also arrived. Including the Schiedel chimney and fireplace, L-blocks, and terrain modeling, it comes to exactly €164,000 plus €4,200 for the landfill fee. The plasterer and plumber costs are still a bit uncertain but might balance out.

We have also decided to tile the entire ground floor with wood-look tiles instead of mixing laminate flooring in the living area.
It’s all a matter of taste, but did you also use brick cladding?

We don’t use facing bricks here.

Does your downpipe have a bend?

Uh, no! So far, there are no issues except that the double-leaf doors on the west side don’t swing smoothly when tilted. This will be adjusted once the external blinds are installed.
