Hello,

It would be really great if everyone here could just post one or a few pictures showing the current state of their house.

I'll start right away.

For renovations, it’s best to provide a comparison of before and after the remodeling.

After May 2015:

The weather is favorable, and momentum is being used. Great care was taken both during excavation and concrete work. It looks very neat, so things can continue this way.

Our house is currently covered in an unattractive gray-green: it has a base coat plaster on it. The plumbing team was busy inside today.

Our terrace is taking shape. Tomorrow, the paving will be done. This way, our junior’s party can take place outside over the weekend.

I don’t want to keep you from seeing my current DIY project!

I am currently building a pergola for the west-facing terrace on my own. It is made from 130x130mm (5x5 inch) laminated larch beams, with outside dimensions of 4m (13 feet) wide, 3.5m (11.5 feet) deep, and 2.8m (9 feet) high. In between, I have slotted in larch decking boards to act as a louvered screen.

Yesterday, after 4 weeks of preparation, we finally put this monster up…. now all that’s left is to remove the supports, and then the wisteria can start its growth and cover it in greenery.

It’s great to see that many tasks are being done independently here as well.

The feeling of having completed some things yourself is priceless.

In our new housing developments, it’s common practice to take on an extra 100,000 and have everything done professionally right away – interest rates are low...
