Hello,

It would be really great if everyone here could just post one or a few pictures showing the current state of their house.

I'll start right away.

For renovations, it’s best to provide a comparison of before and after the remodeling.

Before March 2014:

After May 2015:

It’s just craftsmanship, which you can especially see with grazing light. I don’t know any house where it’s different.
Ours doesn’t even have external wall insulation on the facade.

It wasn’t a criticism of your house. It’s just something I keep noticing. Unfortunately!

We don’t have external wall insulation either…

But I do know a house where the plaster is completely smooth! They used the same thick-layer plastering technique as with the interior plaster!
It looks absolutely amazing!

We used the same procedure as for the interior plastering. First, the base coat, then the finish coat.
It is simply difficult to apply evenly and without breaks due to the large surface area.

I believe every facade looks rather dull in raking light; eventually, you stop noticing it.
If you don’t want to see that, it’s best to use brick cladding or Trespa panels.

Or leave it covered with vegetation...

You also have to like the "patina" of wood. If it would always stay that way, I would too.

That's true, we like that you can see how the house ages. That's why it is neither pre-weathered nor stained.
But yes, that is very much a matter of personal taste.
