Hello,

It would be really great if everyone here could just post one or a few pictures showing the current state of their house.

I'll start right away.

For renovations, it’s best to provide a comparison of before and after the remodeling.

Before March 2014:

After May 2015:

You are right, I hadn’t thought about the baseboard yet. Maybe he did it intentionally for that reason.

Good point! Still, the edge would be there at the top, and a baseboard should be thicker, right?
We’ve already had this discussion: baseboards “all around the staircase.” Tricky topic ^^

Yeah, I’m not sure what to think about it either.
I’ll wait for the final inspection. The argument from earlier, that other areas in the house could suffer if the stair installer has to come back, is definitely true. The wallpaper and paint were already a bit damaged during the initial staircase installation.

The post really doesn't bother me at all, and criticizing it is completely over the top.

Well, I wouldn't say it's overly exaggerated. It’s asymmetrical, and the entire handrail leading there is crooked—you can clearly see that.
I've often heard that a centimeter (0.4 inches) doesn’t matter much in construction, but I don’t quite agree with that. Plans are binding.

If you don’t like it or if it does not match the agreement, then speak up.
Anything else will only cause you frustration. Especially because the wrong post caps are used.
