Hello,

It would be really great if everyone here could just post one or a few pictures showing the current state of their house.

I'll start right away.

For renovations, it’s best to provide a comparison of before and after the remodeling.

Before March 2014:

After May 2015:

Exactly, wooden sliding windows for those who aren’t into masochism. Plastic was not an option for a timber house. The wooden facade will remain natural and is allowed to weather.

Currently, the insulation (blown-in cellulose) is being installed. It’s quite funny when the stuff comes back out somewhere, but the guys can also clean up. Here’s a hole where the cellulose is blown into:

Gray cement or mortar lump on OSB wood panel next to yellow construction tape.

Also, we received the glass today… unfortunately, the exterior window frames are still missing. We’re not quite sure what to do with the glass at the construction site right now:

Truck with large glass panels in green frames, crane lifting glass panels, two men watching.

We’ll see… The large fixed window in the dormer for the air space was supposed to be installed this week (because the crane will be removed on Monday), but it can’t be done without the frames. I’m curious how this will proceed.

And one more thing I don’t want to withhold from you: our temporary front door!
A rare beauty:

Dark door with vertical wooden slats in construction environment; OSB cladding visible.

Well, tastes change over time, but honestly: who ever bought something so ugly???
It definitely won’t get stolen!

Oh, it just needs a fresh coat of paint! Of course, pink with light green stripes.

It's really a great idea, there are so many beautiful houses included! At the beginning, I can't yet imagine how our house will eventually look, but the process is truly interesting. It might be worth considering documenting it with pictures in general!

This is how it looks at our place for the weekend

We are making progress again.

The rainwater cistern (5000 l) has been installed.

Construction site outdoors: earthworks, wooden pallets, orange pipes, rubble, trees in the background.

The scaffolding has been erected.

Small house made of orange bricks under construction, surrounded by scaffolding, building materials next to it, trees in the background.

The ceiling along with the reinforcement has been laid.

Then the guys with the rubber boots and the large pump showed up again. This time, photos taken from both neighbors’ perspectives.

Construction site: concrete pump with long arm pouring concrete on the shell construction; workers in high-visibility clothing on the scaffolding.

Freshly poured concrete ceiling at construction site, hole in the slab, surrounding scaffolding.
