Hello,

It would be really great if everyone here could just post one or a few pictures showing the current state of their house.

I'll start right away.

For renovations, it’s best to provide a comparison of before and after the remodeling.

Before March 2014:

After May 2015:

@Alessandro IKEA could actually fit well because of its straightforward design. But you can rest assured that most of our pieces are custom-made by a local carpenter. Local for local. It’s more suitable, higher quality, and also more affordable than buying something from the mid-range or higher shelves...
There are also some classics and so on.
As always, it’s important that everything fits together and appeals to you. Brand or price shouldn’t matter. It’s better to focus on quality.

Please don’t misunderstand... I have nothing against IKEA (I actually have a few pieces myself). It just had to serve as a placeholder.
How do you know my dressing room door is misplaced, @11ant?

But here, there are always some who go all out.

Quality should always be a top priority, especially in home construction

Most of the work is done by a local carpenter near us.
I’m still unsure whether I should try something like that. My father did it that way back then. The stuff is damn durable – it’s been over half a century by now.

I only joined the conversation after the house was already standing.
P.S. As you said yourself, it’s just the house for now. The outdoor areas still need to be done. We don’t have a picture thread here just for the houses, but also for the gardens themselves: https://www.hausbau-forum.de/threads/bunter-Garten-plauder-Bilder-Thread.30829/page-103#post-396331

I don’t know if it’s really like that – but I do know that half of the people discussing here always see it that way. That’s why you can enjoy watching both the “Villariba” and “Villabajo” sides argue over several bags of chips whether the door should be moved (or has to be, drama drama) or not.

Quality, yes, but there are plenty of products whose price can no longer be justified by their quality. At some point, it’s just "throwing money away." So, price does matter to me, for example, when the quality is similar, the price clearly makes the difference, doesn’t it?

For example, I’ve seen a few items on design bestsellers where "throwing money away" really applies. But I guess that almost brings us back to the topic of art. Still, I’m sure there’s more than just a handful of products on that site whose quality simply doesn’t justify the sometimes outrageous price.

The problem is: many people with too much money also have poor taste and can only use the price as an indicator of whether something is worth buying. If you are a provider of accessories, etc., you have two options: either you set a shamelessly high price yourself, or people will take their money elsewhere. After all, excess money is like a runaway animal—it only wants to stay in caring hands.
