1/3 is paved. It’s taking forever I just have to say this: you – and probably your wife too – have excellent taste, and I’m always happy whenever you post a picture! Thank you for sharing your house project with us and inspiring other home builders. Definitely me included!Really a beautiful house! But I keep wondering why the plasterers can’t seem to do their job properly...
We also had the upper floor plastered, and in the evening with the house lighting it’s an absolute disaster! I’ve decided to cover the uplights...
If I imagine our entire house looking like that, I would have cried.
It’s a shame that you can even see the waves during the day :-(

The cause is the thin-layer plaster system, usually applied over ETICS (external thermal insulation composite systems). Even if the panels are sanded as evenly as possible, the rest is still workmanship and subject to quite generous tolerances.
And raking light is a real challenge.
Facade lighting almost always looks unattractive, not to mention the light pollution. Save your money.

That motivates me to keep sharing the progress of the project here.

Just imagining if our whole house had looked like that makes me want to cry.
Too bad you can even see the waves during the day :-( It’s just craftsmanship that becomes visible especially with raking light. I don’t know any house where it looks different.
Ours doesn’t even have ETICS (external thermal insulation composite system) on the facade.
I think it somehow makes the house look more lively, or at least that’s what I tell myself.

Yep. That’s, uh... for better ventilation of the staircase. *cough*
The stair builder already told me during the initial measurement that there would be a little hole there. At least it’s small enough that a child couldn’t fit through it. I would call it an "eyecatcher"; sounds kind of stylish.
