Hello,

It would be really great if everyone here could just post one or a few pictures showing the current state of their house.

I'll start right away.

For renovations, it’s best to provide a comparison of before and after the remodeling.

Before March 2014:

After May 2015:

I don’t get it.

He’s happy when more needs to be checked because that means more hours.

Simple as that

Why would he be happy? He’s not paid by the hour but rather a fixed fee per appointment.

For the home builder, billing by square meters means knowing the price in advance. Fixed-price contract vs hourly billing.

The main thing is that an expert truly has the necessary knowledge, as you can’t be sure beforehand.

...so it shouldn’t matter whether you charge a flat rate or by the hour [emoji6] Why do you doubt the competence of publicly appointed and sworn experts? Had bad experiences?

“Public appointment certifies that an expert is especially qualified in a specific field. In addition, publicly appointed experts are sworn to act independently and impartially. [...] Only professionals with outstanding qualifications are publicly appointed. To receive the quality seal of public appointment, they must undergo a rigorous examination process. After that, their work is continuously supervised by the officially authorized appointing body (in Germany, this mainly includes chambers of architects, chambers of skilled crafts, chambers of industry and commerce, engineering chambers, and agricultural chambers). This also means that publicly appointed experts can lose this status if their qualifications no longer meet current requirements. Furthermore, publicly appointed experts are also assessed for trustworthiness and personal integrity. Only then are they allowed to carry this prestigious quality seal.” Source: IHK Schleswig-Holstein

Yes, I know how to become an expert and how complicated the process is. Once you succeed, you can earn a good income.

So what exactly is your point again? Certainly not jealousy, right? So what are you trying to say?! [emoji4]
I haven’t had any bad experiences so far. You sound like your experience has been different. Or is it about the fees that an expert charges? If that’s the case... well, no one is forcing you. If you’re not happy with what you get in return, you don’t have to use their services.
Personally, I think spending about 1% of the construction cost is a good investment, considering how expensive poor workmanship or similar issues can be. But of course, that’s up to each individual.
