Hello,

It would be really great if everyone here could just post one or a few pictures showing the current state of their house.

I'll start right away.

For renovations, it’s best to provide a comparison of before and after the remodeling.

Before March 2014:

After May 2015:

We also have a parcel mailbox, the SafePost 95. It looks great and the quality is good, but unfortunately, the delivery personnel haven’t quite figured out how the system works yet... The owner leaves the door to the parcel compartment open, the delivery person places the package inside, and then closes the door... too simple?

The owner just leaves the door to the parcel compartment open, the delivery person puts the package inside and closes the door... too easy?

This only works with small parcels. As far as I know, for insured packages, legal transfer of risk only occurs when the recipient signs for them. Placing packages in parcel boxes is therefore legally the same as simply leaving them at the door.

Packages are surprisingly often left at our front door or in the garden…

No, as long as the box has a one-way flap or can only be opened with a key, that’s fine.
I just wanted one that can be used for a long time until it’s full, and by different delivery people.
Opening the flap, putting the package in, closing the door means only one delivery person can use it. If then Hermes... or someone else comes... it won’t work again.

Not if you agree on a delivery arrangement with the shipping company. We have set up a large wooden garden chest where all packages can be placed. It works perfectly.

Even if off-topic:
At least for DHL customers with an account on Paket.de, there is the option to designate preferred neighbors and delivery locations for the courier.

For example, you could simply set your mailbox as the delivery location. My packages always go to the "Mr. No Neighborhood Delivery," who lives in my building. It works great!
