Hello,

It would be really great if everyone here could just post one or a few pictures showing the current state of their house.

I'll start right away.

For renovations, it’s best to provide a comparison of before and after the remodeling.

Before March 2014:

After May 2015:

Good morning,

everything has now been painted twice, but this paint is turning into a disaster... in the grazing light, you can clearly see how wide the roller was. The paint itself comes recommended by the professional supplier and was applied wet-on-wet by my painter and a colleague. Paying €80 net for one bucket isn’t exactly cheap either.

What paints have you had good experiences with? My painter plans to visit the professional supplier tomorrow to explain the problem—this happened to us before, but not as badly—and try to get a replacement bucket. So once again, everything will need to be covered and taped up. I’m really starting to lose my mind. It’s incredibly frustrating not to be able to finish.

Now we can’t see how it actually looks, but Streiflicht (side lighting) remains a pain.
If you really want it to look good, you have to spray it on.

Is there additional task lighting in the kitchen? This kind of indirect lighting alone wouldn’t be enough for me there.

I have to think of UFOs, time holes... I still find them too immense in their size.

But I think it’s great when someone breaks the mold and puts a lot of passion into their somewhat different idea to make it a reality. Call it a labor of love. It probably becomes a life’s work if you have to repaint it again.

Are the stripes only visible in daylight?

The raking light clearly shows how wide the roller was.
If the stripes are caused by the paint not providing enough coverage, a third coat might help. If the paint "only" casts shadows, it means it wasn’t spread evenly during application.

I’m not sure if there are significant differences in the consistency of wall paints, but I have learned that painting using the "cross-hatch technique" requires some skill and discipline...

A simple trick I like is just to say:

"Whatever – I’ll leave it as it is now!"

The end of January has passed, and everything has been sealed for a week now. Thanks to the (expensive) construction heater, the electrical and plumbing work have already started; an update on this will follow later.

@Slava_S Could you share some more pictures of the windows? Which manufacturer are they from?
