One corner for the PC, a lounge area for my 100Hz Metz CRT / plus the small 50Hz Trinitron and the old consoles, and a 3x3m (10x10 ft) space left open for VR gaming. From the wooden support beam to the door it’s 3.5m (11.5 ft). And in width, there should even be a little more than 3m (10 ft) left. 😀 a dedicated room for hobbies.... This is a dream come true.
For now, it’s still just a storage room until we’re fully moved in.Where does the door lead?

Did you attach a stairwell, and was the area marked with green tape the location of the former retractable ladder? No, we pushed the construction staircase through the opening as long as there was no permanent staircase in the stairwell yet. That’s why the board was installed last. The staircase continues all the way up to the attic.
From the other side, it looks like this:

I’m curious to see how the house transforms into a real gem. It definitely has potential. If you no longer need the grille on the upper window, I think I could put it to use. 😉
Is it entirely made of sandstone, or are the other walls timber-framed?
It’s a pity about the windows. Does the requirement only apply to preserving the facade, or are there also restrictions for the interior?
Pay special attention to where old and newer (1960s) building materials meet. That’s where we found the most damage during demolition. Yes, we demolished it. There was no other option. The sandstone walls of the outbuildings still stand as a retaining wall.I might get back to you on that. Currently, it’s in the basement. The other walls are white plastered and quite plain.
The heritage authority’s requirements are actually quite straightforward. The building itself is not listed. The surrounding buildings are partly protected, and there is an overall preservation order for the old town area. For us, this means: Although there are no grants available, we still have to obtain approval for any changes to the facade. The advantage is that we can deduct all expenses related to facade renovation from our taxes, and the KfW heritage program applies to us.
