Hello,

It would be really great if everyone here could just post one or a few pictures showing the current state of their house.

I'll start right away.

For renovations, it’s best to provide a comparison of before and after the remodeling.

After May 2015:

I prefer to keep my everyday drinking glasses (which for me also include wine and sparkling wine glasses) near the dishwasher because I’m a bit lazy and don’t always want to carry the freshly washed glasses all the way to the living room; I just put them straight from the dishwasher onto the shelf.

My very fine lead crystal glasses are stored in the dining area in a sideboard. However, they are only taken out very rarely because, as mentioned above, I’m lazy and don’t like washing by hand—and lead crystal should not go in the dishwasher. So, they are used only on special occasions, and then I don’t mind carrying them to the dining room after handwashing. But for everyday use, I prefer practicality.

Flower meadow with red poppies and white daisies in front of a gray house under a blue sky.

I didn’t expect that a quickly and temporarily sown flower meadow could look this great... We actually just wanted to avoid the site looking too much like a construction area and to keep the nettles from spreading too much until we can start on the landscaping. Now I’d almost prefer not to have a traditional garden at all and just seed everything like this. At least it’s low maintenance.

Wow... I would love to have a lawn like that at our place as well. I find it much nicer than gravel gardens, boxwood, and the hydrangeas that have now become so common here.

And rhododendrons ... in Upper Franconia, they grow abundantly and tend to spread a lot.

I'll probably need a hydrangea and a rhododendron as well.
