santesana7 Dec 2011 11:46Hello!
For aesthetic reasons, I would like to wall-mount a Besta shelf measuring 60cm x 40cm x 192cm (24 inches x 16 inches x 75 inches). Does anyone know if this is possible and what needs to be considered?
Thank you!

Thank you!In my opinion, this is not possible because the shelf is not designed for that. I think the fasteners will simply pull out of the shelf due to the weight.

IKEA-Experte8 Dec 2011 10:39Whether it will hold well or not mainly depends on how heavy the shelf will be loaded and whether appropriate anchors and screws are used. For heavier loads, I would recommend using more than two brackets. In general, definitely avoid using the included wall fasteners, as they are only meant as safety devices.

Nayla_106811 Dec 2011 23:58It won’t hold long-term because the shelf has a corrugated cardboard core, like those in lacquered or Expedit shelves. Where exactly is the bracket supposed to hold, or even just support the weight of the shelf itself?
If it absolutely must be attached to the wall, then build some kind of support structure UNDER the shelf and place it on that. This way, the wall brackets will only provide the usual anti-tilt function. There was already quite a heated discussion here about Besta and wall mounting. So it’s better to avoid it.
