Hello,

It would be really great if everyone here could just post one or a few pictures showing the current state of their house.

I'll start right away.

For renovations, it’s best to provide a comparison of before and after the remodeling.

@Würfel* - how and where do you store drinking glasses? We are considering hanging a ceiling shelf above the island for this...
Our kitchen doesn’t have any hanging shelves either. We keep the everyday glasses in a pull-out drawer below the oven, right next to the refrigerator.
The cups are in the drawer next to it.
Wine and champagne glasses are stored on the shelf above.
This setup has worked well for us.

Modern Siemens built-in oven combination; lower pull-out drawer with glasses.

We also have the glasses and cups stored in pull-out drawers next to the dishwasher.

Thanks, would you do it the same way again?

I just checked. In our current drawer unit (internal drawer, Schüller), our glasses don’t fit. It would need to be a large drawer.

We’re considering whether to install the shelf again in the new home. It’s right in front of your head. At the moment, it doesn’t bother us because it’s a closed kitchen. But I wouldn’t find it ideal in an open-plan living space.

Attached is a picture of the current setup.

Modern kitchen: white island, black countertop, sink, hanging glass shelf with plants, window.

With me, the glasses are like Matte’s, located below the oven.

Glassware above the cooktop??? Don’t they always get greasy?

In our kitchen, they are stored on a shelf above the dishwasher, which is built into a tall cabinet (raised). I don’t find a pull-out drawer very practical for taller glasses, such as champagne flutes or wine glasses, because I worry about breaking them if the drawer is opened quickly.

No grease film, neither on the glasses/cups nor on the shelf itself. The Bora performs well.

Taller glasses (wine, champagne, etc.) are currently stored in the living room with us. The bottle usually goes to the living room with the glasses.
