And I think the cost factor should not be underestimated... That’s also why I recommend aluminum.

And then 6,000 euros instead of 3,000.
On top of that, you’re rewarded with the fact that the colors of the uPVC windows often aren’t available in aluminum versions, so you don’t get the same shade. As a former aluminum window manufacturer, I consider both claims to be myths. Different security classes dominate the aluminum and uPVC market segments; your price example compares premium custom work with mass-produced DIY store products. Also, there is no color that doesn’t exist (in glossy or matte). This did cost us quite a bit, unlike other suppliers who simply offer eight color choices and say a ninth doesn’t exist or is only available at a prohibitive price. By the way, the best-selling option for us (about 20% share) was matte white.

A color like “similar to RAL 7016,” as a popular example nowadays, looks different on foil-coated uPVC compared to anodized or powder-coated aluminum. This applies both to surface structure and to the shade itself. And the difference is significant. We include a RAL color fan for material samples, and some differences are truly striking.
Then people have an aluminum door, next to it foil-covered fixed glass panels, and just a few steps away a garage door—say, from Hörmann—that looks different again.

The foiling doesn’t cost much, and aluminum can be easily foiled just like the plastic it is meant to match. The durability of the aluminum is not affected by this. That would not be a reason for me to avoid aluminum for a front door (and personally also not for the windows, although discount consumers tend to have a different attitude there).
