Hello,

It would be really great if everyone here could just post one or a few pictures showing the current state of their house.

I'll start right away.

For renovations, it’s best to provide a comparison of before and after the remodeling.

Before March 2014:

After May 2015:

To be honest, I don’t really understand the window topic.

It’s purely about money. Of course, wood-aluminum windows are top of the line. For me, the additional cost compared to plastic windows was 20,000 euros. I have many and large windows. In the end, the extra cost just wasn’t worth it for me.

I now have very good plastic windows—not the cheapest ones—with a few extras (better burglary protection, etc.).

For us and all our acquaintances, the front door is made of wood.

For doors with a "profile" in the figurative sense as well, this is, in my opinion, the first choice (except for the cubist style).

Of course, wood-aluminum is the ultimate.

I don’t need wood surfaces on the inside, and they don’t suit every style anyway. "Aluminum on both sides" is completely sufficient for me – by the way, it’s not a problem to have different colors on the inside and outside without using foil.

That doesn’t really match the fuss you make about brickwork; and secondly, in my view, saving on windows when reselling is a kind of anti-homestaging.

11ant.

I’m sure that if I had chosen wood-aluminum windows instead of brick veneer, I would have saved a lot overall. My brick veneer units are arriving in a few days: 15,000 pieces. Installing them costs a fortune. But for me, that is simply more important than wood-aluminum windows.

Just start a window thread where you can discuss the best window installation methods. In my opinion, this is only of interest to a small part of the readers. This forum should be about house photos, construction progress, and so on, right?! Well-intentioned advice.

Good luck.
