and accordingly, the front door and staircase look like this The front door has a very tasteful glass insert, but the fixed panel next to it feels like a half-sibling or even an adopted sibling: it somehow "fits" anyway, but doesn’t look like it’s from the same parents.

We are continuing to fill in the area diligently. In addition, our rainwater cistern was installed on Friday:

(the riser extension still needs to be delivered).
It’s raining now. Let’s see if they can continue filling today (the soil is very clayey, and when it gets wet, that’s good for compaction if it’s already where it should be—but it’s problematic if it still has to be brought there).

Why are you backfilling with clay soil? Using crushed stone and a drainage system here would have been more effective in keeping water away from the wooden basement.
Definitely let everything settle for at least two winters; otherwise, you risk the whole structure settling unevenly.

Of course, we'll let that settle over the winter.
We're quite glad that the excavated material is being reused; apparently, some substance (Z1) was detected that makes disposal expensive. Everything we use here doesn't need to be taken to a landfill. By the way, it's not pure clay soil but mixed with quite a lot of gravel. We are sitting on a terminal moraine, so there is a lot of clay gravel in the soil.
(The old field names "Steinacker" and "Khaganger" also point to this.)
