Hello,

It would be really great if everyone here could just post one or a few pictures showing the current state of their house.

I'll start right away.

For renovations, it’s best to provide a comparison of before and after the remodeling.

Before March 2014:

After May 2015:

Well, that would have to be quite a large—or tall—cabinet, and so far, this wall wasn’t really planned for that.

We’ll find a visually appealing solution; it can’t be that difficult.

Exactly, that's how we do it as well (with the maintenance hatch in the hallway where the underfloor heating branches off – it’s a flush-mounted, baked enamel steel hatch, but something like that could also be installed here).

Would you have a picture of that?

Depending on the exact location of the fireplace, you could fill the wall with a faux wood shelf: attach wooden pieces a few cm (inches) long to a wooden board from behind and place it inside. Alternatively, a built-in shelf for some decoration that can be pulled out when needed?

Why not from the outside? That’s how we solved it. Or do you not have a basement?

The chimney sweep will carry all the dirt inside like that, and the niche doesn’t look nice either.

No, we do not have a basement.
