And some people don’t believe it: you do get old—and then you’re actually glad to be able to use proven operating functions (I deliberately don’t say "outdated"). As you get older (Alzheimer’s aside), you don’t suddenly become unable to do things you’ve always been able to do. It’s just that learning new things becomes more difficult. That’s why I don’t have to worry about this issue until I’m older and buying a new appliance. I will be able to operate my familiar oven (especially since I don’t expect to use the devices I’m buying now much longer anyway. I’m only 35…)

I’m already bothered by the control panel without knobs on the induction cooktop. That’s why we chose the Neff cooktop. The TwistPad is simply great

I personally like the door of the Gaggenau that opens sideways. I like the Neff door even more, which folds away into the oven base
I seriously don’t understand why Neff is sometimes mentioned so negatively here. Their cooking appliances are excellent, as is the BSH customer service (by the way—does Gaggenau still have its own service, or has it been fully integrated?). The refrigeration units are solid standard, and the dishwashers clean well (although they don’t dry as well as Miele, even with Zeolite). I don’t even want to start on the price-performance ratio…
Back to the original topic!
Our excavation pit is being backfilled and compacted again.
A basement window won’t be installed after all *hm*, specifically at the rear for our storage space. Originally, a smaller window with a shaft was planned there. However, it was forgotten during the concrete curing phase and was supposed to be cut in later. I already had a feeling it would be forgotten again. And that’s exactly what happened. So it could still be done, but it would be quite complicated and, after all, it’s just a basement that will be ventilated anyway—what’s the point? Well, I eventually gave in to the combined male workforce (my partner, the traitor, even changed sides!).
Not earth-shattering and it saves us about 1,000, but I hope that won’t happen the same way in the living area.
And I admit (thankfully I’m not reading here *cough*): I had already thought once that without a window in that room, you could put shelves along the whole wall… Well… but to not give in so easily to this male troop, I’m still a bit annoyed about it.

Because of the Twistpad, we decided against Neff for induction cooking.
The oven from Neff is great. It has a logical, simple menu system (Miele was too complicated) and the door folds down nicely. The steam oven is also from Neff, partly because of its design and partly due to its easy, straightforward menu.
We have a dishwasher from Siemens. It’s quiet, cleans thoroughly, and dries well.
@Climbee
You should have said, great that there’s no window there, I’ll put shelves in front for Christmas decorations or whatever. That convinces the menfolk.
Our outdoor area is on hold; the paving slabs for the terrace have not been delivered.

What I appreciate about Miele is that they still have rotary knobs instead of touchscreens. Using knobs is much more comfortable and practical. I find the control of induction cooktops without knobs quite annoying.Do other brands offer this as well?

youNo, I was born in ’86. ’94 is the race number of my favorite long-distance motorcycle team. Namely gmt94
