Hello
Has anyone here already looked into the installation options for dishwasher fronts in the new Metod kitchen system? I have spent some time researching this topic and would like to share my current findings with you:
As I understand it, IKEA now offers the option in Metod to have the dishwasher fronts divided, so they appear as if the dishwasher has multiple drawers. Alternatively, you can install a continuous door as before. This can also be selected in the online planner, which will then display the desired front layout.
Additionally, I found out that Metod requires a special mechanism where the dishwasher fronts slide along rails attached to the dishwasher door. I think it works similarly to the sliding doors on refrigerators.
What isn’t clear to me yet is whether this special sliding mechanism is mandatory with Metod, or if you can still mount the front fixed directly to the dishwasher door as before. Does this have something to do with the different plinth height between Metod and Faktum?
If you want to attach multiple partial fronts to the dishwasher door, you need the Vaglig (20250663) product. This consists of two rails that hold the partial fronts together. But as far as I understand, this does not include the sliding mechanism itself.
For the sliding mechanism, you then need either Resonlig (50248348) or Behjälplig (50242426). The difference between these two seems to be that they fit different dishwasher models (Resonlig for Skinande, Rengöra, and LAGAN; Behjälplig for Hjälpsam). However, I have not yet figured out which one is needed for a non-IKEA dishwasher.
There is also Ersättare (00250664), which appears to be an installation solution for semi-integrated dishwashers. Since IKEA does not offer semi-integrated appliances in their range, Ersättare is probably designed specifically for non-IKEA models that you want to install in Metod. I have also looked at the installation instructions for Ersättare, but some things are still unclear to me:
As I understand it, the lower part of the front must be a partial front with a height of 20cm (8 inches), which is hinged in such a way that it flips open when the dishwasher door is opened. Does this mean that a continuous front is not possible with semi-integrated dishwashers???
Additionally, the instructions state that the upper partial front, also 20cm (8 inches) high, must be cut to size depending on the dishwasher’s trim height. I assume this would only apply to fronts without embossed patterns, because if, for example, I cut a Lidingö front (which has an embossed pattern) in the middle at 20cm (8 inches), I would be cutting through the design?
Since I want to install an existing dishwasher with a semi-integrated front in my new Metod kitchen with Lidingö/Bodbyn fronts, I am currently puzzled about how the installation should actually look.
Since Metod will be available in Austria from April 1st, I will definitely ask IKEA then.
Does anyone already know the answers to my questions?
Best regards

IKEA-Experte7 Sep 2014 13:05Take a look at the third picture from Aronito to see how high the front needs to be lifted. However, this is because with Behjälplig the front is fixed at the bottom. In Stefan’s solution, the front is only attached to the dishwasher door and can swing underneath the appliance.

IKEA-Experte7 Sep 2014 14:09However, the manufacturer should not specify a maximum front height of 775 mm (30.5 inches).
It would be nice if Stefan had some pictures for us.

vanDraaken7 Sep 2014 14:47Hello
We also got Metod cabinets.
Our new dishwasher is a Miele G6105 i XXL.
It is semi-integrated but the base area is probably the same as other Miele XXL models.
Maybe this helps someone (I’m trying to upload pictures).
Thanks again for the suggestions here in the forum.
Best regards
Edit:
With the semi-integrated model, you should keep in mind that the IKEA front panel is slightly wider than the top control panel.

Stecky200021 Sep 2014 10:53Hello everyone,
I registered here because I’m hoping to get some help.
I have gained some experience assembling kitchens over time.
About 10 years ago, I planned and built my first kitchen using modular components called Yes-Box from a hardware store.
After that, I planned and built two more kitchens, both using IKEA Faktum systems (for my brother and grandmother). Well, my brother mainly planned how he wanted it arranged.
All went smoothly.
Unfortunately, the design of my first kitchen for a room with sloping ceilings was not ideal, and then I had an accident with a leaking fully automatic coffee machine that ruined the countertop.
That’s why I planned and built a new kitchen: an IKEA Metod system.
Everything went well this time, and I had the countertop professionally measured and installed.
Everything was finished except for the DISHWASHER FRONT...
And now I’m stuck and very frustrated!
I have a 6-year-old Neff SI 90 F1 with an external control and display panel.
When I selected items at IKEA, I told the staff that I have a dishwasher not from IKEA, and they said I would need an adapter.
Yesterday, the moment finally came, and I assembled it...
It doesn’t work, or rather, it doesn’t fit! I took photos and thought through all the options, but simply no. The plastic part that attaches to the lower flap hits the dishwasher door at the top when properly screwed in and protrudes too far. If I drilled new holes further down, the plastic part would hang below. The flap needs to be positioned at a very specific angle so that it doesn’t touch the dishwasher itself at the back or the floor in front. How it will look once I add the toe kick is still uncertain.
Yesterday, I went to IKEA Wallau and explained my problem first to customer service and then to the kitchen department. In the end, they said there is no solution for my problem!
The only real solution, and I mean real solutions, not something that ruins the whole kitchen’s appearance, is...
I have to buy a new dishwasher from IKEA...
That can’t be right!
Unofficially, they confirmed that if you buy a Neff, Siemens, Bosch, or even a more expensive Miele, you’re out of luck. The kitchen will just end up looking patchy! However, the salespeople are not technicians and think maybe you can “jury-rig” something.
When I say buy, I mean if you want to keep using a dishwasher from a previous kitchen, like I do.
Since this thread is quite long, I thought maybe someone here might know of a solution.
Do you have any advice?
Best regards and thanks in advance...
