I have been using Miele appliances for decades whenever possible: in my opinion, they are reliable, and if there are any problems, Miele comes over to repair or replace them (once a refrigerator was replaced for a small fee after the warranty period because the previous model apparently had flaws).
The appliances need to meet the requirements I clarify before buying them. I don’t need every technically possible feature (such as smartphone control or washing machine notifications on the phone, for example).
There is a good chance that we will install only Miele appliances again in our next house build (unless there is no oven that opens sideways at eye level or has a door that slides in).
And some may not believe it: people also get older – and then appreciate reliable operating functions (I deliberately don’t say “outdated”) that they already know.

I think Miele is good, but I’m not really a fan of the oven controls. We’re undecided between Miele and Gaggenau. Personally, I like the Gaggenau door that opens sideways. It’s more comfortable for shorter people because you can stand right in front of the opening. I also find the menu navigation on the Gaggenau more straightforward, which I like. We were also impressed by the cleaning function on the Gaggenau steam oven (we’ll have a fixed water connection for the steamer, so only Miele and Gaggenau are under consideration).
Bookstar: That’s exactly what bothers me about the Miele appliances we’re considering: having to tap through endless prompts on a display. Gaggenau has just two rotary knobs to adjust everything. For example, Miele asks me what I want to do in the steam oven, how much food there is, etc. There are predefined menu functions you can select, and so on. With Gaggenau, I just set the time, temperature, and humidity, and that’s it. This is one reason why we currently lean more toward Gaggenau.
In the near future, we plan to visit both showrooms in Munich to take a closer look and then decide. I’m happy to share how it went.
Washing machines: ONLY Miele. My ex had a Bosch, and the laundry never came out as clean as I’m used to (my mom had Miele). When I separated from that guy and needed a new washing machine, it was clear I would buy a Miele. I’ve been more than satisfied with mine for 12 years now, just like with the dryer, which is two years older.
New features for the washing machine? No, I don’t need any. My washing machine has to wash, handle easy-care fabrics, and have extra spin and rinse cycles. It does that. I haven’t missed a massage function yet.

Okay, it might be the case that with the more advanced Miele models it works that way. I only know the entry-level models from Miele, where I don’t need menus. Just turn on the oven, set the temperature, and go.
We don’t need a steam oven or similar, because we have our beloved Thermomix for that.

For me, Miele is the ultimate. However, this opinion is usually adopted uncritically from parents or others.
