Without it, you would definitely have more space for a large wardrobe or other important items, while the practical use of this door is minimal since your front door is nearby anyway.
It doesn’t rain as often as you might think.
And in no more than a year, the door will likely be blocked and unusable. If it’s usable at all now, imagine parking your car and then trying to carry large shopping bags through this door into what is probably a narrow hallway.

Maybe the homeowner is a bit of a scaredy-cat like my sister-in-law. She wanted the door so she could go straight from the car into the house at night.

The garden’s blooming beauty was already there in the topping-out ceremony photo. We built in an older vacant lot, and the garden had been maintained by the neighbors (relatives of the previous owner). In the photo from the topping-out ceremony, everything was just cut back very severely because the picture was taken in December/January.

That’s all true to some extent, but since I come from a family that never parked a car in the garage, it serves more as our alternative cellar. I have never known it any other way. Apart from bikes and my motorcycle, nothing drivable will probably ever go in there. Oh, and the door leads to the utility room.
