Hello,

It would be really great if everyone here could just post one or a few pictures showing the current state of their house.

I'll start right away.

For renovations, it’s best to provide a comparison of before and after the remodeling.

Before March 2014:

After May 2015:

I don’t think so, why would I? Natural weathering is fine.

Of course, that’s a matter of personal taste—I don’t like that “burnt” look at all.

This shows once again that a lot comes down to personal taste. I like weathered wood because you can see the passage of time and life in the material. On the other hand, I would never have wanted to build a red brick house.

I agree with Yvonne.

Fortunately, tastes vary; otherwise, it would be boring.

A wooden facade looks very stylish when new. In my opinion, when wood turns gray and brittle, it loses its vibrancy. The warm tone is then missing.

Brickwork is also not really my preference.

I like weathered wood – there are even facades specifically designed to look like that, right?

For a park bench or a pier by a lake or the sea, I think weathered wood works really well, it fits perfectly. It also suits a log cabin in Alaska. However, on a regular house, I find it unattractive, and you would just end up painting all the time...

But to each their own!
