Hello, I am currently looking into the topic of windows.

I originally wanted to have wood-aluminum windows and had already factored in the additional costs. However, I was told that wood-aluminum is slowly disappearing from the market because the wood underneath the aluminum tends to rot over time. Has anyone here had longer experience with this?

Pure aluminum windows are also rarely in demand for single-family houses.

Thanks for your information.

I actually always wanted wood-aluminum windows.

Well, then lay out your presumably emotional reasons, so we can compare them with the technical reality of the materials.

Let me guess: sales talk from someone who doesn’t offer this material combination or has to buy it at a high price?

I once managed an aluminum window manufacturer whose majority of customers were single-family homeowners. If you have money and want to preserve value, you don’t choose anything else.

Main reason:

The plastic windows I am familiar with look noticeably less high-quality due to their plastic surface compared to wooden windows.

That only explains so far that you prefer wood over plastic. But why wood/aluminum? With that, you have definitely chosen the most expensive combination (?)

Have you discussed price differences with window manufacturers who offer several materials?

I am still at the beginning of my research. I was told to expect a 30-40% increase in costs compared to plastic windows.

I expect to receive a detailed alternative offer to my current one (only plastic windows) soon.

There are also plastic-aluminum windows.
