ᐅ Interior Window Sills – Wood, Natural Stone, or Which Material?

Hello everyone, we are currently in the decision phase for which interior window sills to install.

We like wood the most, but we ruled it out due to cost.

We have a choice of various natural stones, mixed patterns, etc. Our windows are anthracite on the outside and white on the inside. The walls will all be white as well. On the outside, we will use slate window sills. Inside, we are simply unsure – if we choose white ones, will it be too much white?
Flooring: In the kitchen/living/dining area, we have oak planks, white oiled.
The hallways have medium gray 60 × 60cm (24 × 24 inches) tiles. The same tiles are in the bathrooms, and the bedrooms will most likely have laminate with an oak look. The photo shows our oak planks and the tiles.

What comes to your mind? What we don’t like are marble window sills with any kind of patterns. Right now, we are really stuck :-(

Thanks for any advice

And how much does a window sill cost you in the end? On average

I am supposed to pay 200 euros, which might be fair?

I installed it myself. The material cost was around 20-40€ per window sill (depending on the size).

I would also reconsider using wood. For us, the carpenter was cheaper with installation than using stone. The carpenter veneered specially for us (plywood with 5mm (2 inch) oak or larch) and oiled it to match the floors as we wanted.

But not oak, right?

I also find wood the most beautiful, but what if the floor is already wood? We have classic gray granite, I like it, but you could also choose a darker shade.

In my current apartment, I got solid oak, about 20mm (0.8 inches) thick.
