I am currently working on my house design together with our planner, and he recommends wood-aluminum windows. He said that if he were to build again, that would be his preferred choice. Another construction company told me that they install 90% PVC windows from Rehau and have never had any issues with them. They also mentioned that the additional cost of about €10,000 (approximately $11,000) for all the windows is not worth it.
What is your opinion on this?

nordanney15 May 2020 08:54Let’s put it simply. Plastic windows can do what wood/aluminum windows can do: open and close, let light in.

Nowadays, I would choose uPVC windows. The advantages of wood-aluminum are minimal, while the price premium is substantial. We have wood-aluminum windows, but next time I would go with uPVC.
Instead, I would opt for soundproof glass and different bricks, no more hollow ones. Altogether, that also costs around 10,000 euros and offers much more value than wood-aluminum windows.

WilhelmRo15 May 2020 10:40We have wood-aluminum windows, which I find beautiful and pleasant. I consider plastic windows to feel "cheap." So, as you can see, it’s purely a matter of personal taste and whether spending 10,000€ is worthwhile.

What is your opinion on that? For my opinion on wood-aluminum, you just need to use the forum’s search function; after that, the whole weekend can rain and there’ll be nothing good on TV. You only mention an absolute extra cost of ten thousand, but not relative to which baseline. Wood-aluminum, which is not worthless, should certainly cost significantly more than PVC.
