Hello,

are there manufacturers that have real wood panels on aluminum exterior doors (and preferably also on the interior side)? I’m not referring to wood-look finishes, but actual wood panels.

So far, I have only found Kneer Südfenster, but their distribution is somewhat complicated.

Thank you
Bart

Until now, I hadn't looked into the wood that closely, mainly because with pine, we just don't get a dark door frame. That would be another reason to stick with my original idea: an aluminum door (as the core) with a wood cladding. But whether aluminum production is actually much better for the environment is another question ;-)

From what I have seen, many wooden front doors have a steel core. I would suggest looking for the manufacturer Ruku.

I'm not exactly an eco-enthusiast either, but Meranti is where I draw the line. However, this material is widely offered here in Germany. It is also used for wooden windows. There are good quality versions available, but guaranteeing that has become difficult, and the origin is questionable.

Rigidly connecting materials with different expansion coefficients is not a good idea. The manufacturer I visited handles everything else that can cause issues—but they avoided this combination. In my opinion, only Pax manages wood/aluminum well; aluminum/wood seems problematic, and I don’t know anyone willing to design it.

But if you want to use wood now, that’s actually good: you’ll have wood on both sides automatically. You didn’t specifically want aluminum as the visible surface anyway, and burglary resistance depends much more on the design, hinges, fittings, and locking mechanisms than on the frame profile material.

Unilux also offers wood-aluminum windows - part of Weru!
