Hello,

It would be really great if everyone here could just post one or a few pictures showing the current state of their house.

I'll start right away.

For renovations, it’s best to provide a comparison of before and after the remodeling.

Before March 2014:

After May 2015:

So, how about durability here?

I really like wooden decking for terraces, but due to its limited durability, it will probably be porcelain stoneware or something similar. Did I overlook WPC decking? It’s the first time I’m hearing about it today.
I guess you have to experience it yourself and decide what you like. I had stone before, and this time it will probably be untreated wood. If after many years one or another board gets damaged, it can be replaced. That’s definitely easier than with stone. WPC is quite nice but not really my thing because it’s made from mixed materials. I prefer either one or the other.

Is WPC wood or plastic?

As mentioned before, it’s a mix of wood and plastic.

The only thing to watch out for is that they are hollow, otherwise they get so hot in summer that you can’t walk on them.

A slope helps prevent this problem.

Better go for the solid decking boards, even if they are more expensive.

I personally find wooden decking for terraces really beautiful, but due to its limited durability, I’ll probably choose porcelain stoneware or something similar. Did I overlook the WPC boards? It’s the first time I’m hearing about them today.

Regarding durability, some manufacturers offer a 20-year warranty.

I really like wooden decking boards for terrace surfaces, but because of their lack of durability, it will probably be porcelain stoneware or something similar after all. Did I miscalculate by not considering WPC boards? Hearing about them for the first time today
We had WPC on our old balcony. The textured surface was very prone to dirt. Even with a scrub brush, I couldn’t get the surface clean again. For me, that ruled out the material.
If it’s wood, then directly Bankirai. Oil it once or twice a year, and it will last at least 10 years, more likely much longer.

I’m afraid it will last longer than you will like the material itself.

As far as I know, there are significant quality differences. Warping, graying/milky appearance/color changes, becoming brittle—all of these occur. We have a horticulture business in the family that no longer uses WPC for construction. They only use the expensive products with a long manufacturer’s warranty as an exception.

We currently have a tropical hardwood floor. This time, we are going with 80x80 cm (31.5x31.5 inches) porcelain stoneware tiles. They were completed today as well. Due to the rain, I couldn’t take a good photo.
But the landscaping crew is really speeding up. 30 meters (98 feet) of access path plus the garage courtyard, splash protection on the facade. The mowing edge is halfway done, and the lawn is supposed to be laid this week.
