Hello,

It would be really great if everyone here could just post one or a few pictures showing the current state of their house.

I'll start right away.

For renovations, it’s best to provide a comparison of before and after the remodeling.

Before March 2014:

After May 2015:

Looks great. How much maintenance do these WPC decking boards actually require?

They don’t need any maintenance at all. Just spray them off when they get dirty, and that’s it.
The only thing to watch out for is to use solid boards because of frost.

Better get used to the fact that your white facade won’t look as good as it does right after painting, very quickly.

Yeah, sure, but there doesn’t have to be a huge dark stain on the facade just because they were too lazy to cut 3m (10 feet) further away.

The problem is that when they cut, it doesn’t produce wood sawdust but melted plastic pellets. The closer to the house wall, the hotter and more melted they become.
That’s why you should first use a hand broom, then a soft brush, thirdly carefully pick off the particles with a small tool, and fourth, if necessary, repaint or apply plaster/finish.
It looks very good, impregnate it promptly.

Paving work: two workers laying paving stones, excavation and construction tools in the yard.

The exterior work has now started at our place. For now, we are only paving the area in front of the house. On the left side, topsoil is being added. We have not yet decided what to do with the garden.

Are rubber gaskets going to be installed in between?
We did it this way, with a ship deck look, no green underneath, and nothing disappears without a trace.

If daylight saving time is abolished, will everyone move to northern Germany?
Okay, but bring Schluck with you.

Are rubber seals going to be installed there?
We did it in a ship deck style, no green growth from underneath, and nothing disappears without trace.

No, underneath there is about 50cm (20 inches) of compacted gravel. Nothing should really come through for a long time.
