Hello everyone,

We have a newly built house and later noticed with regret that our facade is slightly uneven:

White two-story house front with dark windows and garden fence.

Exterior view of a house wall with window and door, gutter visible

According to the construction company, it is annoying but within the acceptable range and less than 1mm.

After consulting my lawyer, he said that the DIN 18202 standard allows a tolerance of 7mm (0.28 inches) over 2m (6.56 feet), and only between measurement points—that seems like a bad joke.

My facade looks unprofessional and poor, but it’s still within the standard???

What do you think about this? And yes, the final inspection has already taken place, but such work should not be handed over to a customer.

Don’t make this mistake... you will regret this facade forever. Without an expert, even if it costs money, you won’t get any further.

Our lawyer is now trying to address this through the building authority’s approval of the thermal insulation composite system. Since such approval is not available here, our builder needs to arrange this, and therefore someone must inspect the façade who is appointed by the builder. This way, we could avoid having an independent expert from our side.

Question: What would it cost, in a worst-case scenario, to properly plaster the wall?

Scaffolding approximately 3000 euros

Replastering, if the substrate can remain, I estimate between 12,000-16,000 euros

Off-topic: My understanding was that legal protection insurance policies generally exclude matters related to homebuilders. Which insurance do you have, and to what extent have they agreed to cover the costs? Are you working with a specialist construction law attorney?
