I would have cut the bottom and top tiles, each one so that they are the same size. That way, the fiddly little piece is avoided.

Use a different tile format if available, or avoid tiling up to the ceiling. I would have chosen the latter.

Then you would have a narrow strip of wall instead of a narrow strip of tile. That might even be more noticeable.

But then you have the same pieces on the toilet and washbasin walls, and three tiles instead of two on the 1.20m (3 ft 11 in) height.

There are advantages and disadvantages to both approaches.

You really only think about this when you are tiling. After that, it no longer matters, and no one even notices it. That’s something you learn during house construction...

I built up above the tiles with a narrow layer of gypsum... I wanted it flush with the surface. My tiles also end at 2.13m (7 feet). If I had placed the showerhead under the ceiling, it wouldn’t have been an issue.
Alternatively, suspending the ceiling around the narrow tile strip is an option... but I find that looks strange.
Splitting the fleece at the top and bottom would also be a possibility.

From the start, I didn’t want tiles going all the way up to the ceiling.

I don’t think it looks bad. However, I would probably have used the light tile from the rest of the bathroom as the top edge, to create a deliberate frame for the shower area.
