Hello,

It would be really great if everyone here could just post one or a few pictures showing the current state of their house.

I'll start right away.

For renovations, it’s best to provide a comparison of before and after the remodeling.

Before March 2014:

After May 2015:

One side feels a bit too closed off and windowless. The rest is fine.

So with the brick cladding and the narrower gable window, it actually looks quite attractive in the end.

You probably mean the stairwell window, yes, that was an idea from my shell builder, I followed that suggestion, we really like it. We had to separate this window because I dislike frosted glass; instead, we installed blinds at the top and bottom for privacy.

Phew, I’m generally not a fan of brick cladding, but I liked this brick. However, with the windows, it now seems a bit dark to me. I guess I just have to wait for greenery around it...

The brick is incredibly difficult to photograph; its appearance keeps changing. The installation was also challenging, which is a disadvantage of ceramic bricks, as they tend to shift easily.

We had color samples for the windows; RAL 7016 suited us best.

In the end, it will get some final touches, and there will be more greenery around it.

Do you know my plan? I learned one thing: from inside to outside, a different window arrangement would not have worked for us. The ground floor has an open concept; upstairs, each room has two windows except the master bedroom and bathroom (east side), but that doesn’t matter.

The verge shingles somehow always seem like a patch-up for planning mistakes.

As a silent reader, I’ll now also share our little house. It’s gradually starting to take shape.
The protective films on the window frames still need to be removed, and of course, there’s still a lot of greenery missing.

No, the one in the gable triangle on the other gable side.

Do you mean the garage side, which is not shown here?
