A common mistake is being too afraid to invest enough during house construction and oversaving. The result is costly retrofitting and missing out on many things you could have afforded and wanted. No, it’s not a mistake. Keeping reserves is completely fine. And if new enthusiasm for something new arises later, that’s great for one’s quality of life.If it can be retrofitted, it is not a direct mistake, but if you choose cheap DIY store doors out of fear of saving money, then it is. A friend of mine regrets deeply not having chosen solid carpenter-made doors; now he hears children’s noise and music throughout the entire house.
There are hardly any things easier to replace than an interior door. So it probably can’t be that bad.
But afterwards, you often notice things you’ve invested in (even if it was just a lot of time) that turn out to be rather useless or irrelevant in everyday life, or things you neglected and would have preferred to handle differently. Few people can manage to do the best of everything (and first, you have to know what the best is and find someone who can deliver it).
