Hello,

It would be really great if everyone here could just post one or a few pictures showing the current state of their house.

I'll start right away.

For renovations, it’s best to provide a comparison of before and after the remodeling.

Before March 2014:

After May 2015:

Nice, I was so relieved when the roof was on and covered... it felt really good, from that point on the interior couldn’t get completely wet anymore, etc...

Yes, TOTALLY!! I’m so relieved too. We had really bad luck shortly before, on Sunday there was a severe storm here with heavy and driving rain and strong winds, water literally ran under the Katja Sprint roofing that had already been installed because the roofers were supposed to come a few days earlier.
Now everything had to be taken out and dried again. But now the windows are still missing...

Ah, finally some pictures of the duplex again. Things have been dragging a bit with you. Or are we only seeing half of it here?

No, you’ve noticed correctly. The shell construction team really worked incredibly hard, but all the other parties are dragging their feet. The carpenters delayed the order at the cutting center, then the materials didn’t arrive, then they were on vacation, so we waited three weeks just for the roof trusses. Then the shell builders went on vacation, and they still had to build the interior walls in the attic. Then the roofers took their time, and the electricians and plumbers for the rough-ins are also delaying. Whether they come or not, every day is a lottery.
Then we chose a rather unusual special color for the windows (Sheffield Oak light), after the window manufacturer took 7 weeks!!! after measuring to finalize the exact element lists, Aluplast now also needs weeks to apply this film.
The windows are now scheduled for week 39, immediately followed by interior and exterior plastering. The plastering expert was here today; I’m dreaming of a broom finish plaster, just need to convince my husband... The exterior paint for our half will be "De Nimes" by Farrow & Ball, I’m really excited. The other half will get a friendly brown/mud tone.
Otherwise, I’m currently taking care of the parquet flooring, floor tiles, and sealing for our exposed concrete stairs; the metalworker has submitted an acceptable offer for an industrial ladder glazing with sliding door (*yay*) and some nice stair railings; the painter is contracted, and final arrangements are ongoing with the plumber. For the parquet, I still need to prepare samples, as I want to treat it myself (alkaline cleaning & soap finish); a few ash floorboards are on their way to me right now.
In short, everything is moving forward, but it’s dragging. I hope the interior work won’t be as slow overall. We have slipped from the planned completion in mid-November to the end of January. Mid-November was admittedly already VERY optimistic.

Watertight and secure, yay!!!

Photos of the exterior will follow.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone in this forum for the great support and helpful advice I have always received for my questions!!

Oh my, I never thought tiling would be so exhausting and take so long! Only 2 1/4 rooms finished so far. Luckily, we found a professional tiler for the bathroom and toilet, which we could never have managed ourselves!

Dark shower area on the left, lighter floor; wall-mounted toilet on the right; door leading outside.

Room with wooden floor, broom on the left, blue tool bag on protective foil, glass door on the right.

Room with wood floor installation: spacers, level, bucket, and tools; door leading outside.

Room with wooden plank floor; many black spacers on the floor, vacuum cleaner lying around.

Dark stone tiles around a white bathtub with handheld shower on the wall; plastic foil inside the room.

Small bathroom with gray tiles, wall-mounted toilet, and white flush plate on the wall.

No matter how hard it is, once you finish, it feels addictive to do it yourself. And it looks great.
