Hello,

It would be really great if everyone here could just post one or a few pictures showing the current state of their house.

I'll start right away.

For renovations, it’s best to provide a comparison of before and after the remodeling.

Before March 2014:

After May 2015:

Here’s another update from us. The roofers are nearing completion, the electrical rough-in is done, and the plumbing rough-in is almost finished. Finally, the windows will be installed next week. The measurements were taken back in June (!!)... The crane will also be removed next week, and right after the windows are installed, the plasterers are scheduled to work on both the exterior and interior. After that, the scaffolding can finally be taken down as well...

The selection of parquet flooring and tiles is being finalized, and I need to start choosing the light fixtures soon. Unfortunately, about 170 m³ (6,000 ft³) of excavation soil still needs to be removed, which is not something to look forward to...

Multi-story house in shell construction with scaffolding, construction fence, crane, and porta-potty.

It’s interesting how the sequence can vary so much. In our case, the roof is already covered, and the windows are installed. But only now is the electrician starting work, and the plumber will begin soon. The scaffolding will also be removed shortly after the solar thermal system is installed on the roof.

That was basically our plan as well. But since the windows were extremely delayed, we decided to start the rough installations early so we wouldn’t lose too much time.

That was exactly my thought as well – there will be time pressure involved. Normally, the rough installation is done only after the building shell is closed. The risk of theft is simply too high (and not insurable).

If we weren’t building in such a small village, we would have had to postpone the installation as well. The advantage is that the major dirt doesn’t get on the nice windows.

Exactly. Our general contractor decided to take the risk ("I’ve been doing this for 20 years," etc.) – but we also live a bit like on a lucky island here. You can even leave your car windows open at night without anything happening... so far everything is still there, and I hope it stays that way at least until next week.
