Hello,

It would be really great if everyone here could just post one or a few pictures showing the current state of their house.

I'll start right away.

For renovations, it’s best to provide a comparison of before and after the remodeling.

Before March 2014:

After May 2015:

Will not be painted, remains natural and may weather to a gray patina.
We wanted a low-maintenance facade. Just no painting! Neither plaster nor wood.

But then I would have had it pre-silvered... It ends up very uneven that way.
Some friends of ours said they let it weather naturally, but after 6 years they replaced everything because it looked terrible. If you don’t mind, it’s fine though.

No, we like it. It looks natural. Unlike the pre-weathered façade cladding boards. I don’t like those at all.
I’m curious to see how the façade will change over the years. I find this kind of process exciting and simply full of life.

aren't you exaggerating a bit? That would be almost 30,000 euros more labor costs compared to plastering. Usually, the additional costs for brick cladding are between 10,000 and 20,000 euros. Something doesn't add up, or maybe only trainees and interns were working.

I'm not exaggerating. It really took 7 weeks. The joints were filled immediately with the builder’s beige-white mortar.

I have 4 brick gables and one chimney that was also clad on the outside.

7 weeks was too long as well; the manager had expected 5 weeks.

Regarding the costs, I can’t say because I didn’t ask what plastering would have cost. I paid 160 euros net per square meter including the bricks (800 euros for 1,000 pieces) and the white mortar.
