Hello,

It would be really great if everyone here could just post one or a few pictures showing the current state of their house.

I'll start right away.

For renovations, it’s best to provide a comparison of before and after the remodeling.

I'm curious to see how the light panel will look when finished

We’re moved in!

Yesterday at 9 a.m., our hardworking helpers arrived, and by 1 p.m. we had everything carried over – we were still living in an apartment about 50m (165 feet) away from the house. Although the weather didn’t cooperate at first, everything went well in the end. The basement at my parents’ place is now mostly empty, while our “basement room” is already full.

A lot is still unfinished:

- The main bathroom shower still needs to be tiled, and the bathtub faucet is missing because it has to be replaced due to a material defect.
- The entrance area still has no flooring.
- The stairs need to be covered, and then the painter will take care of the risers.
- The guest toilet is still missing the sink.
- The guest bathroom is not finished at all yet; wall and floor tiles, plastering, painting, and sanitary fixtures still need to be installed.
- The glass window sills are still missing.
- The doorbell couldn’t be installed because I bought the wrong flush-mounted frame. That really upset me. The old one now has to be torn out, the new one installed, then plastered over and painted again.
- The ventilation system still needs to be put into operation, and the hydraulic balancing of the underfloor heating still has to be done.
- The kitchen is still missing the glass backsplash because the kitchen fitter thought he had found a crack in the stone countertop. That turned out to be a mistake, so the backsplash will be installed next Tuesday when the installers come for the dressing room.
- And much more.

There is still a lot to do, but I have the next week off now. I’m optimistic that I’ll manage to get a lot of things on my list done by Thursday before I go on a ski weekend trip with some friends.

Although a lot is still unfinished, it already feels great to be in our own house. Aside from the still missing shower, everything really essential has been completed. For the next few days, we’ll just keep using the shower in our old apartment.

Today I set up my home office. Now we still need to order some bathroom accessories like toilet paper holders and so on. Then I’ll unpack a bit and enjoy the second Sunday of Advent. Later in the evening, I’ll head out for some mulled wine at the Christmas market.

Happy Second Sunday of Advent to everyone!

You will probably need to replace the TV with a projector screen, otherwise the size relative to the viewing distance is like watching TV in the 1990s.

That impression is caused by the wide-angle lens of the camera.
That is 75" at about 4m (13 feet) distance. You can always go bigger, but a projector screen is not an option, and larger sizes really become very expensive.

Looks good [emoji2]
However, I find the view of the kitchen under the TV a bit questionable; I like it less: it feels too cluttered to me. Even if you don’t feel like tidying up the kitchen because the couch is calling, you’ll still be reminded of the work [emoji51][emoji50]

There is still a lot to do

But the TV is already mounted.

That's how it should be.
