Hello,

It would be really great if everyone here could just post one or a few pictures showing the current state of their house.

I'll start right away.

For renovations, it’s best to provide a comparison of before and after the remodeling.

Before March 2014:

After May 2015:

Yes, down here almost no houses have brick cladding.

Nice house! Would you possibly tell me the manufacturer via private message? Best regards

It's time for some new house photos, don't you think?

Alright. Long-distance shots are practically impossible here, but you can piece together the details:
Our house before renovation (first three photos) and after the window installers and facade contractors (below) left (bottom right):

House with wood shingle dormers, window front, and satellite dish

I had to tackle the upper facade myself:

Exterior view of a two-story house with wood cladding and entrance.

The window sizes were partly changed; the “shed” with the arched windows below was demolished, and a new exterior wall was built where the front door was installed. Unfortunately, the new outdoor staircase isn’t visible now—I can’t step back more than about 4 m (13 feet) from the house, which makes photographing a bit tricky.
In the top left area, instead of proper exterior walls, there was only a wooden enclosure; it used to be a balcony. Everything there was also demolished down to the bare wooden posts, and the wall was completely rebuilt.

This is the south side; you can imagine the rest similarly.

What do I mean by "enclosure"? This is what it looked like behind the facade before:

View of wall with wooden stud frame and yellow insulation between beams

And this is how it looked after I finished insulating:

Exterior wall with wire mesh for plaster anchoring on the shell structure

The mesh is there to prevent anyone from having to remove several dead mice and a wasp nest the size of one square meter from the facade again.

And this is the view from the upper south-facing window on the far left:

Panorama of a forest landscape with treetops and a small house among the trees.

The reason I can’t step back to take a photo is that the ground drops several meters down. It’s a south-facing slope! And the best part: no one can look through my windows.

The house is 200 sqm (2,150 sq ft) including a laundry room and conservatory in the extension – for 2 people, no basement, two garages, 700 sqm (7,535 sq ft) of land. Bought in 2012 for 139,000 euros, lived in for 3.5 years, renovations have been ongoing for just as long (complete renovation costing 62,000 euros to reach KfW Efficiency House 100 standard), photovoltaic system installed. Located 25 km (15.5 miles) from Wiesbaden.

Amazing!

What can be achieved with love, dedication, and a sense of purpose. Wow.

Also:
The view: Honestly... simply breathtaking. Overall, in a great location (Wiesbaden). Quick to Frankfurt, quick to the Ruhr area, quick to Basel, Aschaffenburg, Würzburg, or southern Germany...

And the price for purchase plus renovation with this result. Great. Is it possible to beat the price/performance ratio here? Probably rarely. You invested very deliberately and wisely. I like that – no need to waste money.

Everything is outstanding.
And finally, some house pictures again!
