Hello,

It would be really great if everyone here could just post one or a few pictures showing the current state of their house.

I'll start right away.

For renovations, it’s best to provide a comparison of before and after the remodeling.

Before March 2014:

After May 2015:

And from when does the warranty (for the house/the base coat/the finishing coat) start?

That will be the most interesting aspect of the whole matter, as this is a contract and the acceptance will hardly be complete upon move-in (implied conduct). In case of a legal dispute, it will at least be "interesting".

The warranty for the house and the base coat starts from the date of acceptance. The warranty for the finishing coat only begins from the application of the finishing coat.
The trade is classified by the general contractor as an "external service" within the framework of the construction contract. I only pay once the plastering is completed. And that payment goes directly to the plasterer. By the way, this was common practice for many services.

Is it a premium scratch coat? From Knauf?

The plaster is from Knauf, but unfortunately I can’t recall the exact product name right now. Why?

Is it a scratch render? Based on experience from three houses (over several years, which is why we chose it), I can tell you that there are no cracks if applied properly.

We have not yet made a final decision on the type of render. It will probably be a scratch render.
Thank you for your advice. The general contractor and the plasterer will have more experience than with just three houses. For them, the risk is definitely lower. I also don’t want to have to arrange repairs after just six months, even though those would be covered by the warranty.

I would rather wonder how thousands of others manage to do it without cracks and yet they don’t succeed. But if you can handle it, it certainly won’t harm. I can only speak from our experience that we couldn’t wait for the facade to be finished.

I see many houses where this is done that way. In my hometown, I also know a house (built by another contractor) that has noticeable cracks in the topcoat plaster.
I’m actually quite happy with it. That way, next year I can work on my outdoor area without constantly having to be extremely careful not to damage or ruin my nice white premium plaster.

You’re absolutely right – I’m also always careful to make sure the plaster doesn’t get damaged. Maybe this really is the better method with plaster – you guys down there definitely have more experience with this. It usually goes against the expectations of the homeowners.
