HilfeHilfe28 Nov 2016 06:53Hello, we moved in 2014. Last year, the heating system had occasional malfunctions until some new software was installed. OTHERWISE, the heating technician always said: try a "cold start," meaning turn off the circuit breaker and restart. This year the problem has started again, and now the heating is acting up once more. Does the 5-year warranty from the builder also cover the heating system installed by him? We paid the builder in full.
I would say you have a good chance of getting the damage covered. The 5-year warranty period applies (unless otherwise contractually agreed) to the entire house and the installed fixtures and fittings. It seems like the heating system has already had a problem before, and from what you describe, it was never properly fixed. I would recommend calling your builder and explaining the issue.
It should get resolved.
Best regards, Tobias

Bauexperte28 Nov 2016 11:26Hello,
You have been active here for quite some time now … of course, the warranty covers the entire scope of the house construction; your contractual partner is responsible for this. I can’t recall any exclusions off the top of my head.
I would recommend contacting your former contractual partner, since you already had issues with the boiler last year, and describing the situation—including the steps taken by the heating specialist. It would be more than frustrating if the problem recurs in the coming years and you are left without recourse from 2020 onward! So it’s better to insist now that the issue is resolved permanently.

I can’t quickly recall any exclusions. One would need to check the contract; presumably permanently elastic maintenance joints are excluded. Possibly others as well (seals?)...
In general, the builder’s warranty clearly also covers the heating system.

HilfeHilfe28 Nov 2016 16:28All good, the paramedic and the developer have taken care of everything. The pump manufacturer is replacing the entire unit.... Some control mechanism thing went wrong. Maybe it's for the better, it was a Monday pump anyway.

Bieber081528 Nov 2016 22:40About four months after moving in, two valves in our air-to-water heat pump had to be replaced... Apparently, the installed parts were of inferior quality, but now suitable ones have been fitted. This was handled through the manufacturer’s customer service, meaning neither the builder nor the plumbing contractor is responsible. It seems similar in your case (in the sense that another party has been identified as liable).
