Hello,

It would be really great if everyone here could just post one or a few pictures showing the current state of their house.

I'll start right away.

For renovations, it’s best to provide a comparison of before and after the remodeling.

Before March 2014:

After May 2015:

…that’s all I can think of…

And for the first time in my life, I’m sitting in a tub with both my knees and breasts underwater—at the same time.

…and on the internet, it’s basically “Pics or it didn’t happen.”

😎:p 😀

The tiles are called "porcelain stoneware Dublin grey" and measure 120cm x 120cm (47 inches x 47 inches).
I once took the liberty to test the chemical resistance of the tiles in the lab after certain exposure times.
E = Vinegar (can be critical, for example, on marble or granite)
RW = Red wine (also not exactly "harmless")
CO = Cooking oil (sunflower)
MO = Motor oil (rarely found in living rooms 🙂)
There were no issues found!

Lab sheet with color sample drops at 10, 30, 60 minutes and 6 hours; bottle next to it.

Brown cardboard with four time intervals (10min, 30min, 60min, 6h) and lines; red stain, ruler below.

The 6-hour version shows an improvement in the design. I would apply it on a large scale.

The problem with this test is that expensive red wine was used... To fully achieve the texture preferred by @hampshire, new tiles would be more cost-effective.

What is truly remarkable after 6 hours (before the removal of the liquids) is the exceptionally wide spread compared to the image on the left, which shows the test liquids immediately after application. In all test areas, only 3 ordinary drops were used. This means the surface of the tiles is extremely densely fired and does not absorb any liquids.

... or lots of (wet) parties 🙂

The red wine came from a discount store and was correspondingly affordable.
