Hello,

It would be really great if everyone here could just post one or a few pictures showing the current state of their house.

I'll start right away.

For renovations, it’s best to provide a comparison of before and after the remodeling.

Before March 2014:

After May 2015:

Because someone will always find something, and there is always a contentious issue somewhere that some would have done differently.

That’s indeed the case, but I actually think it’s a good thing. It allows for suggestions to be made that you can then choose to follow up on or ignore. In my case, I clarified it with the building savings contract and therefore consider it unproblematic. But yes, you do need a thick skin, as topics like floor plans, design preferences, or work methods are often debated very controversially here in the forum. It can get even worse if you look at other building forums.

Exterior view of a red brick house with carport and building plot in front of the house

Two-story brick house with carport, paved courtyard, and blue car.

Finished for now. We had the paving work done; the rest will be done in spring (garden).
I still have some grass seeds lying around in the shed and am thinking about spreading them on the bare soil in front of the house. However, I’m not sure if they will still germinate since it’s quite cold already.

I like it.
What are the dimensions of your carport and the storage room?

Thanks.
The carport measures 6x9 meters (20x30 feet) in total. The storage room is enclosed and measures 6x3.5 meters (20x11.5 feet).

... and it is ultimately useful: friends from real life usually comment on designs just as nicely as they do uninformed, calling them "nice" (or even worse: out of admiration that you manage to tinker a little less awkwardly with the 3D house design software than they do). By the way, you don’t even need other forums for things to get “worse,” the financing section here alone is enough to prefer receiving criticism anonymously as “Teddy Bear 11ant” rather than in real life, where you still have to leave the house tomorrow.
