Dear users,

we need a carport with an integrated storage room.

We are undecided between a pre-made one and a self-built option.

Does anyone have experience with a self-built carport?

For us, the financial aspect is the main focus. We have helpers available to assemble both options. Is it even worth building it completely on our own?

Thank you very much for your experiences and tips!

.. quite an unconsidered question, well, political scientist ..

Not very effective, Qualle...
What is probably done are kits that you can then screw together – although it’s somewhat different from Lego – wood weighs something, and even more at a height of 2.4 m (8 feet). Having it assembled of course costs money.
Make sure the foundations are done properly (have it done if you don’t feel confident) – carports including structural calculations are available at DIY stores – this is probably the most affordable solution.

.. what else is there to say? Do you know the background? Do you know the circumstances? Do you know ****** and so on? Your comment is also unnecessary ..

Here in the neighborhood, two people have just assembled the frame of their carport. Foundation, supports, wooden frame. Duration was about 3 weeks, including painting the wood. The parts were already cut to size when delivered. A small crane was needed for the assembly, plus an additional worker to coordinate the build and operate the crane.
It would have been even more complex with a storage room...
A steel frame carport might have been easier to assemble, but that still depends on planning, coordination, material selection, and proper foundations. I would have it done by professionals.

Regards,
I.

@ Hausqualle: You could have spared yourself your rather tactless and immature comment. My profession has little to do with my question. I’m not even going to tell you about the circumstances you mentioned on your second attempt. You’re out!
