The flooring installer started with the four bedrooms yesterday and finished today at 3 PM. That’s what I call impressive work. All doors will be fitted on Thursday, the electrical work will be completed over the weekend, and the bathrooms next week.
Moving in will take place on July 12th (on my birthday :rolleyes .
Meanwhile, half of the basement will still be tiled during ongoing work, and the stair treads will be installed on July 29th, after being painted three days earlier.
The pictures aren’t very exciting, but progress is progress.
Pictures:
- Bedroom of child number two, from yesterday without baseboards
- Kitchen lighting. The kitchen unit will also have the same lighting.
- We will install a railing around the terrace made of powder-coated flat steel in anthracite with stainless steel cables (for safety reasons), as there will be a drop of about 1.7 m (5.6 ft). It will be mounted roughly on the L-shaped concrete blocks. The measurements have already been taken. It’s just under 17 m (56 ft).
Hello, is this track lighting system from Paulmann?

Hello, is this rail system from Paulmann? Yes. I’m currently installing it throughout the entire kitchen, dining room, hallway, and both bathrooms. One bathroom is already finished.
Expensive nonsense, but at least it’s still better/cheaper than paying €100 net for just drilling holes for spotlights (in a concrete ceiling) without including the spotlights.

Expensive nonsense, but still better/cheaper than paying 100€ net for just one recessed light hole (in a concrete ceiling) without the lights themselves. I wanted to install it above the kitchen countertop as well, since we mostly avoided using wall cabinets. I’m also considering using the system in the hallway.

If you stand on the gray rails, I recommend the Dipper (2 lights in one fixture, adjustable, dimmable, LED) as Urail lamps. Unfortunately, they’re no longer available in white, otherwise I would have them everywhere. Thanks for the recommendation, and the price really reflects the quality. I’m not a fan of these disposable LED lamps at all. I actually wanted to use ones where the light source can be replaced.

Thanks for the recommendation, and the price is quite something. I'm not a fan of those disposable LED bulbs. I actually wanted to use ones where I can replace the light source. With this system, the total cost of all the components needed to get it working adds up quickly.
What you see here is an end feed at €35, a 1-meter (3.3 feet) track at €17, a 2-meter (6.6 feet) track at €35, two connectors at €20, and four lamps (from the sale) at €108. It all adds up.
The kitchen area will need an additional 50cm (20 inches) of track, one more connector, and one more lamp. That brings the total for the kitchen alone to around €500.
