Hello,
we have now been informed by the contractor that they will not be using prefabricated ceiling panels, but will instead cast the ceilings with in-situ concrete.
This makes it relatively easy to install conduits for recessed ceiling lights.
I find it quite difficult, though, to decide on the placement in advance.
Maybe you could share some photos of your lighting setups? I’m especially interested in the living room, dining room, and bathroom ; )
And if you can recommend specific spotlights, I would be grateful for any tips ; )
We also have an internal staircase that doesn’t get much natural light. Perhaps someone has ideas for that too ; )

This is very interesting. Why are concrete ceiling boxes still necessary? Wouldn’t it be possible to simply pour the entire ceiling and then embed the panel in the plaster?Because we had a) precast concrete slabs and b) heat dissipation also needs to occur with LEDs, meaning you need mounting boxes.

To me, it’s somehow a modern trend; everyone wants it but no one really knows why—just like when kitchen islands first became popular. City villa?
I would be cautious about the advice regarding the countertop. If the spotlight is positioned right at the edge of the counter, you’ll get exactly what you don’t want when leaning over something: shadows. It’s better to place it in the middle. That’s how we have it, and it provides perfect lighting.
Thanks in advance for all the advice!
I find it especially challenging to plan the lighting for the living and dining rooms.
If I use regular ceiling lights and then move the table, the light ends up in the wrong spot.
With spotlights, they are usually spaced out anyway, so it doesn’t matter where the furniture is placed.
I see that as a big advantage.
In the living room, you could also add a floor lamp or wall lamps to create a cozy atmosphere...
In the kitchen, I definitely plan to install spotlights above the worktop to ensure there is always enough light. And above the sink island, probably a nice pendant light.
The hallway and bathrooms will probably have spotlights as well.
I still need to think about the rest...

So, I’ve been thinking it over again and attached the pictures where I marked the possible locations for the spotlights.
Here is the hallway first.
I planned for 2 rows with 3 spotlights each. I’ve noted approximate distances.
The front door is on the right. Is this okay, or is it too many or too few?
In the kitchen, I will definitely install 2 spotlights above the countertop in front of the window. Above the island, I’m considering either pendant lights or lowering the ceiling a bit to add spotlights and indirect lighting. But I’m still unsure about the dining area. I would like spotlights there because it’s not yet clear how the table will be positioned. At first, we will bring our current table with chairs, which will be placed further into the room. Later, a dining corner with a leather bench is planned, so everything will be pushed into the corner.
Does anyone have suggestions on how to arrange the spotlights here?
