Hello,
has anyone ever installed the main lighting in a house or apartment using LED strips?
Possibly integrated into a drywall ceiling and walls?
Or is that too prone to issues?
What should definitely be considered during the planning stage?
The apartment consists of a bedroom, bathroom, two kids’ rooms, hallway, storage room, guest toilet, and a combined living, dining, and kitchen area, as well as a balcony, with a total living area of 106 m² (1141 sq ft).
Thank you very much for your advice.

how do I find the dealer? I’m interested in that too!
One is based near us in Lindlar and is active online. Buying from a manufacturer in Poland is especially affordable while offering excellent quality.

I guess I’m not allowed to post that here. If you’re looking for a dealer who does LED studies, you should be able to find one...

Light depends on different types of lighting: direct, indirect, and accent lighting. In every room, I have a cove lighting feature on the wall at one side of the standard ceiling outlet. In the living room, this is combined with the dining area. This was practically the only solution since we bought the apartment already at the shell stage. The only thing that still bothers me is that, due to the fixed segment lengths of the LED strip, it ends earlier on the right side of the living room than on the left.

If you are still free to choose, use all aspects of lighting, but never cover everything on just one side with spotlights.

Also, take into account the light loss caused by the diffuser on LED strips (30%) and the ceiling’s reflectance when planning indirect lighting.

Thank you very much for your pictures and your advice. They are definitely very valuable. Planning for all aspects of light is, of course, absolutely correct.

Best regards
Jürgen

Hello,

attached is the lighting plan.

In the dining area next to the kitchen, a pendant light will be added, and a ceiling light will be installed centrally in the living room. In the bedroom, reading lamps will be mounted on the bedside tables. The mirror in the bathroom is 1.20 m long (3.94 ft) and has integrated LED strips at the top and bottom. The mirror in the guest toilet also has LED strips. Along the balcony wall, an LED strip will be installed. This should complete the lighting setup.

The power supply cables will be routed centrally to the storage room into the suspended ceiling, where the power supplies will also be housed (inspection access).

It still needs to be decided which KNX system (Busch-Jäger or Jung) or which lighting control system will be used.

LED Ceiling Installation in Drywall:

Length
Living Area Ceiling 17.60 m (57.74 ft)
Kitchen Ceiling 7.25 m (23.80 ft)
Hallway/Toilet Ceiling 7.80 m (25.59 ft)
Hallway Ceiling 6.00 m (19.69 ft)
Hallway Baseboard Lighting 131.80 m (432.35 ft)
Bathroom Ceiling 12.00 m (39.37 ft)
Bedroom Ceiling 3.70 m (12.14 ft)
Room 1 Ceiling 4.00 m (13.12 ft)
Room 2 Ceiling 4.00 m (13.12 ft)

Regarding technical details:

In the baseboard hallway
Mean Well power supply HLG
320 watts 24 volts 13.34 amps.

In the ceilings:

LED strip Dynamic White IP20 / 24 volts, 2500 – 6000 K, 850–900 lumens
23 watts per meter

The LED strip is the same throughout; only the power supply varies by wattage.

What is your assessment, especially regarding the lighting control: via DALI, DALI + KNX, DMX, or 1–10 V control?

Thank you in advance for your opinions.

That sounds interesting! We are also planning a few soffits in the house. However, I read somewhere that these can be quite expensive...
Do you already have an estimate of the costs on your end?

The corridor baseboard lighting is not 131 m (429 ft) but 13.2 m (43 ft). Sorry.
